We want to say "hello!"

We have been busy in our bubbles making a special video for you! Check it out below!

What are you doing in your bubbles?

Friends acrostic poem

Today in writing Miss McClelland's writing group wrote acrostic poems about friends.

We started by brainstorming words about friends that started with each letter of the word friends. This part was pretty tricky because we had to think of words that related to our friends.

Next we chose one word for each letter.

Then we had to download the image as a jpeg file.

Here is our acrostic poem. Please leave a comment and check out our individual blogs to see more poems.

If I could talk to a snake, I would ask it...

Today in reading with Miss McLeod (online), we read chapter 2 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It's called the Vanishing Glass.

After we read the chapter, we played another Kahoot and then we did an activity where we had to think about what we would ask a snake if we could talk to it.

Here are the questions we would like to ask...

What would you ask a snake if you could talk to it?

Online Learning- Day 1 with Miss McLeod

What a fantastic 'first day' of Term 2- learning from home.

I had a lovely time connecting with all the children who joined for my writing and reading sessions and my Q & A/ check in session. It was so great to see all of your happy faces and I look forward to tomorrow!

Here is a screenshot of some happy faces from my writing session.

Today in writing we begun making a comic using Pixton. Stay tuned for some finished products on Friday!

For reading my class really enjoyed listening to me read Chapter 1 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Then we played a Kahoot (with some teething problems). It was lots of fun.

Congratulations to our top three scorers!
1st place: Lucas
2nd place: Jayden
3rd place: Jed

Close behind was Cameron and Cole!

Remember if you missed our learning hangouts for today- these are recorded and uploaded to our Google Site.

Welcome to Term 2

It is great to get back into some learning (even if it is at home online).
Today Mrs Jones' reading groups (10 that joined the Google Hangout) read a story on EPIC called "Memoirs of a Goldfish" and then they did a quiz on EPIC that Mrs Jones made.
These are our results - 2 people got everything 100% correct!!  Great work Tovie and Son.

Tyler's Art Posts

Tyler has been super busy in lockdown posting a new drawing on his blog each day.  He has been using YouTube clips that teach him how to draw.
I think they are all pretty fantastic - what do you think?
Which one is your favourite?  My favourite is the haunted house.

Update from Miss McClelland

Hi Team,

I just wanted to pop in and update everyone on what I have been up to over the past week.

I have been trying to keep myself and my two dogs entertained.  There are just as many dogs as there are people in my bubble.

My favourite thing to do each day has been to take my dogs for a walk, usually around Sydenham park. It is great to get some fresh air.

I also did some baking. I made chocolate chip cookies. I was pretty happy with how they turned out. I didn't have any chocolate chips so I just cut up some chocolate from a block so the chocolate was really chunky.

Yesterday I did some learning of my own. On Thursdays, before lockdown, I had been doing some learning about digital learning to give me more tools and ideas I can to use to teach you guys.  So just like you we took our learning online. There were 29 teachers in our google hangout and it lasted all day.
We learnt lots of really cool things but my favourite things we learnt were how to make a pick a path slide. I will add my pick a path maths quiz I made below for you to try (it only has 4 questions).
Miss Morgan also showed me how to draw real looking things on google drawing. Today I had a go a drawing my favourite mug. I tried to draw my dog but it was a little tricky for me at the moment. But I will practice. What do you think? If you want to know how I did it let me know.

Let me know what you have been up to in the comments.

Until next time

Miss McClelland

Update from Miss McLeod

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all keeping safe inside your bubbles at home. In my bubble at home, it's me, Riki and sometimes Cash and Ava (my step children). They are still allowed to go between our house and their Mum's house as long as that's the only two points of contact.

I've been keeping busy and I've now finished my second puzzle! I forgot to take a photo of the first one I did. It's a Destiny Wasgij puzzle. This means that the puzzle you're doing is actually different to the one on the cover. A Destiny Wasgij is what the scene would look like in the future!

This was the cover on the box.

This was actually what the completed puzzle looked like.

Unfortunately, there were 3 missing pieces! Can you spot where the missing pieces are?
