Last day of Level 3 Schooling

Today our students who have been at school in Alert Level 3 celebrated the end of lockdown with pizza for lunch!
They are really excited to see everyone when we all go back to school next week.
Thank you Miss Courtney for organising pizza for lunch.  And thank you Mrs McIntyre, Miss Bannan and Miss Goslin for looking after our senior students who came to school in Alert Level 3.  We really appreciate it!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Yesterday Miss McLeod's reading group finished reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Today we did a Padlet to record our ideas about our favourite part out of the entire book and why. See this below.

Have you read the book? It's quite different to the movie. What is your favourite part?

Everyone Worries - a great picture book for children

Mrs Huriwai passed on this great little book to us to share with our students and their families....

How are you?
It's OK to worry about Coronavirus.  This book offers support to children who are feeling worried by Coronavirus and the sudden changes it has brought to their lives.
It reassures children that this will pass, we are there for them and we will get through this together.

Truth or Lie? Can you guess?

Wow! I can't believe that we've done 3 weeks of online learning!

In Miss McLeod's writing hangouts, we've been learning how to write comics using a programme called Pixton. In our first lesson (3 weeks ago) the children got to create their own avatar. Their avatars all got added to our 'class photo'. (See below)

We've now made 3 comics and each week we've learned new tricks and got better at making them. This week we made 'Truth or Lie' comics. The task was to create a  talk show in a comic with the guest having to say a truth and a lie and the audience (blog readers) need to work out which is the truth and which is the lie.

Here are some below...see if you can work out which is the truth and which is the lie in each!
